Scott Kleinman (W'94), Co-President, Apollo Asset Management
Scott Kleinman serves as Co-President of Apollo Asset Management, Inc., co-leading Apollo’s day-to-day operations including all of Apollo’s revenue-generating businesses and enterprise solutions across its integrated alternative investment platform.
Scott joined Apollo six years after its inception in 1996, and was named Lead Partner for Private Equity in 2009 prior to being named Co-President in 2018. Scott serves on Apollo’s Executive Committee. Prior to joining Apollo, Scott was a member of the Investment Banking division at Smith Barney Inc. He serves on the board of directors of Apollo Global Management, Inc. and Athora Holding Ltd.
In 2014, Scott founded the Kleinman Center for Energy Policy at the University of Pennsylvania. He is a member of the Board of Advisors at the University of Pennsylvania Stuart Weitzman School of Design and the Board of Directors at the White Plains Hospital. Scott received a BA and BS from the University of Pennsylvania and the Wharton School of Business, respectively, graduating magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa.
Larry Schloss (WG'78)
Larry Schloss brings 50 years of experience to investing in public and private markets as well as managing investment businesses. Currently, Larry is a Board member and advisor to both for profit and not for profit businesses.
Most recently, Larry was the Senior Advisor to Marathon Asset Management. He was the President of Angelo, Gordon & Co from 2013-2016. Previously, he was appointed Deputy Comptroller for Asset Management and Chief Investment Officer for the $150 billion New York City Retirement Systems, the third largest pension fund in the United States. During his four year tenure he is credited with more than doubling its investment staff, its expansion into several new asset classes, changing its manager procurement law, exceeding the System’s benchmarks and improving the fund’s performance from the bottom to top quartile.
Larry spent 22 years at Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette, cofounding and leading its various private equity businesses (DLJ Merchant Banking) into a $19 billion AUM business that was widely regarded as the model for Wall St investment banks. Upon Credit Suisse’s 2000 acquisition of DLJ, Larry became the Global Head of Private Equity expanding the business to $32 billion of AUM before his 2004 departure.
Larry is a Board member of Ares Private Markets Fund, Morgan Stanley’s North Haven Net REIT, Vice Chair of New York Police & Fire Widow’s & Children’s Benefit Fund, Girls Who Invest, an Emeritus Administrator of Tulane University and an Advisor to a $20 billion public pension fund. Larry has also served on numerous public and private institutions including the Federal Reserve Bank of New York’s Investor Advisory Committee on Financial Markets and General Motors pension fund’s private equity business. He holds a BA degree from Tulane University and an MBA from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
