John F. Megrue, Jr. is co-CEO of Apax Partners, L.P. John is instrumental in the creation and execution of the firm’s worldwide business and investment strategy.
Prior to joining Apax Partners, John served as a partner at Saunders Karp & Megrue (SKM). John played a lead role in the creation and management of SKM’s three private equity funds ($1.5 billion of equity capital) and in growing SKM to a top performing middle market firm in the United States.
Before joining SKM, John was a vice president and principal at Patricof & Co., where he specialized in buyouts and late-stage growth financings. While at Patricof & Co. John focused on building the firm’s leveraged acquisition activities. Prior to that, John was a vice president at C.M. Diker Associates, where he focused on private equity investments. John also served as president and chief executive officer of Stendig International Inc., a Diker portfolio company, from 1986 to 1988.
John holds an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and a BS in mechanical engineering from Cornell University.
