THIS EVENT IS SOLD-OUT
Wharton Private Equity Partners in conjunction with the Wharton Club and Penn Club of Boston is proud to present a very special lunch on April 7 at Vlora Restaurant with Professor Michael Useem. Professor Useem will be speaking on “Developing Your Leadership.”
The intensifying competition and demand for high performance are pressing organizations to become more flexible, more customer-focused, and more fast-acting. Organizations are finding that such initiatives require effective leadership and a supportive culture, and this has become all the more critical in an era of greater uncertainty and change. The challenge is to build effective leaders and well-led teams throughout the organization, and that requires a capacity to think strategically and act decisively. Drawing on pivotal moments were faced by company managers, corporate leaders – and even mountaineers on Everest and firefighters in the wilderness – Michael Useem identifies what it takes for thinking strategically and making timely calls when leadership matters most, and what experiences are required by those who want to develop and master that leadership.
Michael Useem is Professor of Management and Director of the Center for Leadership and Change at the Wharton School , University of Pennsylvania . He is author of several books on leadership and change, including The Go Point: When It’s Time To Decide; The Leadership Moment: Nine True Stories of Triumph and Disaster and Their Lessons for Us All; and Investor Capitalism: How Money Managers Are Changing the Face of Corporate America. He is co-editor of Learning from Catastrophes and co-author of The India Way (March, 2010). He has presented leadership and governance programs with a wide range of companies and organizations in North America, South America, Asia, and Europe .
